Ingredients

Ectoin is a small, highly water-loving molecule first identified in micro-organisms that live in extreme environments — salt flats, hot springs, sun-baked desert crusts.

Those organisms accumulate compounds called extremolytes in order to stay stable when conditions turn hostile. Ectoin is one of them. It works by organising water molecules into a hydrated shell around itself.

For cosmetic use it is produced by fermentation at consistent cosmetic grade. It is water-soluble, stable across a broad pH range, and well tolerated in leave-on formats — which is why it appears in all five steps of RESET/01.

PDRN stands for polydeoxyribonucleotide — a fraction of short DNA-derived chains used as a cosmetic active.

In a leave-on formula it behaves as a conditioning agent, and it is included in RESET/01 for the two steps designed to do the most work: 01 MILK and 04 MASK.

It is a widely used ingredient in advanced Asian formulation practice. We include it for what it contributes to the finish and comfort of the formula, and we make no claim about biological repair.

Beta-glucan is a long-chain sugar molecule with a well-established place in comforting skincare. Because the molecule is large, it works at and just below the surface rather than deep in the skin.

It holds a substantial amount of water relative to its own weight, which is why formulas containing it tend to feel cushioned rather than merely wet.

In RESET/01 it does the quiet work: making hydration feel like comfort instead of a film.

Panthenol is the alcohol form of pantothenic acid, better known as vitamin B5. It has been used in skincare for decades, which is precisely the point — it is a known quantity.

It functions as a humectant, drawing and holding water, and it is associated with a soft, comfortable after-feel rather than a slick one.

It appears in 02 MIST and 03 NIGHT, the two steps most likely to be reached for when skin feels tight.

The outermost layer of skin is often described as brick and mortar: corneocytes held together by a lipid matrix. Ceramides are a major component of that matrix.

03 NIGHT is built around a ceramide and lipid complex because night is when an occlusive, lipid-rich texture makes the most sense — the skin is not being exposed, layered or worn under makeup.

The exact lipid ratio is specified with the formulation lab and will be reflected in the published ingredient list.

Peptides are short chains of amino acids — the same building blocks proteins are made from, at a fraction of the size.

They are one of the most active areas of cosmetic development, and one of the most oversold. What is reasonable to say is that peptide-containing formulas are associated with a smoother, more cushioned appearance over time.

In RESET/01 they are concentrated in 05 LIP, where the substrate is thin, constantly moving, and shows texture immediately.
